Who We Are
Calvary Chapel Lafayette is a body of believers gathering together under the Lordship of Jesus Christ to worship Him, be taught by His Word, and grow in our love for one another. We understand that God’s supreme desire is that we experience His love and extend His love to others.
In our services, we focus on personal and corporate fellowship with God through song, worship and prayer, and the teaching of the Word of God.
WE BELIEVE: Worship of God should be spiritual.
Therefore: We remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
WE BELIEVE: Worship of God should be inspirational
Therefore: We give a great place to music in our worship.
WE BELIEVE: Worship of God should be intelligent.
Therefore: Our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He would be worshipped.
WE BELIEVE: Worship of God is fruitful
Therefore: We look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.
Our Form Of Worship
WHY WE SING JOYOUS PRAISES:
“Shout joyfully to the Lord all the earth: break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.” (Psalm 98:4) “Then a voice came from the throne saying: “PRAISE OUR GOD, you who fear Him, both small and great.” (Revelation 19:5)
WHY WE CLAP OUR HANDS:
“O clap your hands all ye people, shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” (Psalm 47:1)
WHY WE LIFT OUR HANDS:
“Thus I will bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy Name.” (Psalm 63:4) “I desire therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up Holy hands without wrath and doubting.” (1 Timothy 2:8)
WHY WE USE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AS A PART OF WORSHIP:
“Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet, praise Him with the psaltery and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Praise Him with stringed instruments and organs, praise Him upon the loud cymbals; praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.” (Psalm 150:3-5)
An Invitation
To know God in a personal way:
God stepped out of eternity into time and became a man. As a man He was tempted in all ways just like you and me. But unlike us, He was sinless. This man, JESUS, qualified to purchase a pardon for our sins because He is the only one who perfectly met the requirements of God’s holy demands. The pardon was purchased on the cross, the proof was produced by the RESURRECTION! You can receive that pardon (for forgiveness and eternal life) today by inviting Jesus Christ into your heart by prayer (John 1:12; Romans 10:13).
Pray This Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins, for raising from the dead, and for giving me eternal life. Take control of my life and make me the kind of person You want me to be.
Amen!
